Teacher actions: 1. Ask students to think about people and things in their family. 2. Encourage them to say words aloud. 3. Help each student choose 8 ideas related to family. 4. Write or draw one idea per circle on the printable together with the student.
Teacher script: Can you tell me who or what is in your family? Let's say the words together! Now, pick 8 ideas you want to put on your mind map. We will write or draw them in each circle.
Example / model: Ideas from a student: 'Dad', 'Sister', 'Dog', 'Play', 'Home', 'Love', 'Help', 'Smile'.
Printable use: Students fill each circle with one idea about family using a word or drawing, assisted by teacher.
Move on when: Students identify and state at least 4 family-related ideas verbally or by pointing.
Support if needed: Assigned partner to help brainstorm and share ideas orally.
